About Us

The Arab Center is an independent research institution established in 2010 in Doha, and has branch offices in Beirut, Tunis, Washington D.C. and Paris. The ACRPS is dedicated to furthering scholarship in the social sciences and humanities and seeks to provide critical analysis and evaluation of public policy. It undertakes research into the challenges that currently face the Arab world and its research focus includes, but is not limited to, issues of citizenship and identity, democracy and democratic transition, fragmentation and unity, sovereignty and subordination, social justice, and Arab society and state. The Center is not only concerned with what are commonly called “Arab issues”, but also attempts to take international perspectives on board, examining the relations of the Arab States with their neighbours in Asia and Africa, as well as the American, European and Asian policies that affect the political, economic and media dynamics of the region.

In addition to our peer reviewed journals, the Center has published many scholarly and policy-relevant titles in the field of social sciences and humanities. Due to the important contribution that these books have made in their respective fields, and gaging from the positive reception that our books have received amongst Arabic-readers, we believe that many of these titles offer great benefit to non-Arabic readers; under- and postgraduate students and researchers in the social sciences, especially those who are experts on Middle East politics, and those who have an interest in the region and the fields we specialize in more generally. Moreover, our publications have a further added value in that they are authored by researchers from the region who have mastered relevant theories, engage with current theoretical debates in their fields and have access to primary sources as well as original data.

Through its active research efforts, the Center contributes towards the creation and maintenance of a robust network of Arab researchers committed to societal advancement, and to bridging the gap between Arab academic institutions and those across the globe. Within this vision and mission, the ACRPS seeks to expand its publishing circle to include non-Arab readers and scholars by translating its major publications in cooperation with international publishing houses
